While most of our events are free, we do have ticketed events on occasion.
Usually the cost of the ticket is the same as the price of the author's featured book (which is included!). It's like buying the book and seeing the author for free. For those events, we use the not-for-profit online ticketing service, Brown Paper Tickets, which donates 5% of their profits to charities. We like them a lot. They're really easy to use and have great customer service (for us and for you).
When we have $5 events, the ticket amount is usually donated to an author-selected non-profit and the ticket-holder is offered a discount on the author's featured title.
If you are unable to purchase a ticket online for any reason, please call us at (414) 332-1181 and talk to a bookseller.
Malcolm Gladwell at the Zelazo Center Friday January 31, at 7:00 pm
This event will take place at the Helen Bader Concert Hall in The Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts, located at 2419 E. Kenwod Blvd., on the campus of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
Each $32 ticket includes all taxes & fees, and a signed hardcover copy of David & Goliath. Event attendees will also have a chance to win one of five year-long print & digital subscriptions to The Business Journal of Greater Milwaukee.
In the tradition of Gladwell's previous bestsellers, David and Goliath draws upon history, psychology, and powerful storytelling to reshape the way we think of the world around us. This time he challenges readers to look at how we think about obstacles and disadvantages, offering a new interpretation of what it means to be discriminated against, or cope with a disability, or lose a parent, or attend a mediocre school, or suffer from any number of other apparent setbacks.
About the Author: Malcolm Gladwell has been a staff writer at The New Yorker since 1996. Prior to that, he was a reporter at the Washington Post. Gladwell’s books include The Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers, and What the Dog Saw. Born in England and raised in rural Ontario, he now lives in New York.
